About this Forum ?

I never noticed before that it was Netscape and Mozilla Forum in here. I thought it was just Netscape Browser Forum.....

Did you change it lately?
Seems to me I used to click on Netscape Browser....
Well, that's why there are so many Mozilla questions now!

I think I have been working too
hard lately. :?:

This *was* just the Netscape forum, but since Netscape and Mozilla are very similar, Antony decided to change it. There have been other changes also, such as the Opera support forum.

Lorraine,

This forum used to be titled "Netscape Browser Archive", and had been up until earlier this
week. It had that title since the days of the predecessor to the SD701 Message Centre,
that was based on different forum software. The old SD701 forum, is still available for
archive purposes, but it was officially replaced by the current SD701 Message Centre
last summer. IIRC, the old forum, was officially closed down last July. You can still
read the messages on the old forum, but you can't post any new topics there.

I changed it as Jarrad and DJGM mentioned.

Shall we celebrate our 1st anniversary of SillyDog701 Message Centre?

Congratulations Antony, on the success of this Forum, and the entire SillyDog701 site. I have watched it grow by leaps and bounds for several years, and am duly impressed.

Keep up with your excellent endeavors to keep Netscape and Mozilla alive!

Thanks for all your replies.. well, at least I know I am not dreaming, lol
Yes, I have known about Sillydog Narchives for a few years too.
I only found out awhile ago that it had a Message center tho'.
In fact I believe I posted that fact when I first came in here recently.

It's an excellent site and sure, why not celebrate the First Anniversary of Sillydog Message Center. I think it would be a great idea. Party time!!
I remembered about Sillydog and thought I would look at it as I wanted to download Netscape 7.02

You have a fine site Antony, and thank you all for helping me so much.
You have all been very kind and I think I know most things now, not all the techie speak, but how to browse anyway....<grin>

I'm thinking of trying Mozilla now. I guess I will try 1.3.1 or should I try Firebird???? Learning keeps the brain working and then I will be able to
keep you guys busy answering my questions again...*S*

Lorraine,
if you try Mozilla, you will see why Netscape and Mozilla are together. There is one forum which breaks down Netscape according to OS, and there are subfora for everything else. These things are difficult to manage. You may want to try http://www.ufaq.org but you will find many more questions than answer.
the next Netscape 7.1 will be based on Mozilla 1.4. I suggest that you try it, because there are some major difference from earlier versions. 1.3.1 is good but it is a transition version. I find that Moz1.4 RC1(release candidate 1 and probably the only one) is solid. Mozilla Firebird is an entirely different animal, being a standalone Navigator. And, there is work going on Thunderbird, a standalone mail client. It is huge as a download, but it is Moz 1.4 mail (no navigator).
You will have to keep your eyes open, and look at new locations of the same things, but I can see that you are being open-minded to change, and that's the only way to be.

Just wait for Moz 1.4, to ensure you are getting a stable browser. I wouldn't really bother waiting for NS 7.1 - Moz 1.4 will already be out, and the mozilla.org folks will have something later and greater by the time 7.1 hits the web.

I tried Mozilla last night, on my home-built Linux machine. The distro came with 1.2.something, not 1.4, but at least it works. :D

Considering your home built Linux box is quite a fairly old machine, is Mozilla
quite slow to use, or is it just fast enough to use as an everyday browser?
