Nice pictures :-)

Although I still believe my Mac looks better :-P

Just one suggestion, please get cable tie or a piece of cardboard, tie or cover the power cords and cables.

Hmmm...that would be a good idea for a thread, can you post a picture of your setup?

Since I powered up my G3 today I decided to give you the complete specs..

*Powermac G3
*266 Mhz
*96 MB of Ram
*4 GB HD
*Mac OS 8.6
*Small, crappy monitor from my old Performa from 1994 which died last year that hurts your eyes!

I dont know if this will happen but I am thinking of installing Mac OS 10.1 on it.

Thats a good idea, I have so many cords under my desk its insane. I like the cardboard idea, but my desk can not have that since its an L shaped desk.

My PC, an old photo:

Pentium III - 500MHz (or 550MHz), I can't remember the RAM and other spec.

Image
photo taken in year 2000, it shows Netscape 6.xx in screen and Logitech iFeel MouseMan.

What's special about Logitech iFeel MouseMan? It's optical and it vibrates over the screen (so you know where to click). Well, it was damn expensive, NZ$ 210 (or something).

New computer today! (Well, sort of, it is somebody else's junk that I got for free).

Gateway Performance 500, P3 @ 500MHz w/ 512k cache
64MB of RAM
20GB hard drive
8x DVD drive
NVIDIA TNT2 w/ 16MB of dedicated video RAM
Creative SoundBlaster 16

(added by me)
Promise Ultra66 IDE controller, and new IDE cables (old flat kind)
AT/LANTIC NE-2000 compatible LAN card
Standard PS/2 keyboard and serial mouse
Windows 2000 Advanced Server

This machine was somebody else's junk, but I wasn't ready for the amount of dust inside the thing when I opened it! Furthermore, the onboard IDE controller is dead, which forced me to go find my old Promise IDE controller, a PCI add-on card. The absence of a LAN also sent me on a manhunt for my old ISA AT/LANTIC cards.

Interesting to note that this machine came with "Netscape Communictor 4.06, Gateway Edition", and the install files to it, which I copied to quite a few floppies before installing 2000 over ME. Want it for the NS archive?

Better yet, I can't wait to get NetMeeting installed so I can ditch this monitor, it's 20" and takes up my entire desk! The PC is even bigger and takes up a good chunk of my floor!! Ah well, as my dad noted, this was apparently an office workstation at one point.

right ive found out a bit more about this new mac i have.

It's a 2002 iMac
CPU: G4 700 MHz
RAM: 128 MB
HDD: 40 GB
Apple Combo-Drive
32 MB Graphics Card
3 USB ports (not sure which version)

As for software...
It has Mac OS Panther 10.3.9
MS office v.x for mac
Photoshop 7.0.1
Dreamweaver mx 2004
and IE 5.21 for mac.
It does have Safari installed but the previous use of this computer
was in education and Safari is only open to Administrators.
So the previous owner will give me the password tomorrow and ill be able to fully explore the system.

(I may also soon be getting a 1st generation iMac with OSX 10.2.8 :D)

Nice machine. I was going to suggest posting a pict of it, but I'm sure we all know what the 2nd
generation iMacs introduced in 2002 look like anyway! I'll assume it's a pre-widescreen model.

It could certainly do with a generous extra helping of RAM though, or Mac OS X is just going
to be like running through extra thick treacle! Get it upto at least 512MB RAM, and once
you can get Mac OS X 10.4.x Tiger installed on it, then it should run like a dream!
