2.4GHz Intel Celeron CPU
256MB of DDR-333 memory, expandable to 1GB
Intel Extreme i845 graphics
20GB hard drive, runs at 5400rpm, expandable to 60GB
15" LCD at 1024x768
24x CD-RW/DVD drive (the writer portion's broken)
It appears to have been made sometime in late 2003. I'm swapping this thing out with the Pentium II box, which will probably be retired to a file and print server.
Oh, and it only cost a whopping $0.00.

Mandrake wrote:That's actually not too bad of a computer. Upgrade the ram to at least 512MB and replace the hard disk with a 7200 RPM model and you'll have a decent PC for running XP. I wouldn't try running any games with a Celeron processor and Intel graphics though.

Somewhat strangely, it takes desktop DIMMs, so upgrading it should be no problem. The i845 takes eight megs for video.
Same with a suitable hard drive. Perhaps a 5400 RPM drive would be better for a laptop, if the battery life is important to you.

Any chance of showing us a photo of your new 2.4GHz PC?Don_HH2K wrote:New PC today! Well, it's not so new, but it's considerably faster than the other trash boxes I've been using. Specs as follows:

Yeah. Here's most of it (yes, it's running Linux):

The guts, note the desktop RAM and missing battery, and feel free to steal the XP Home key if you can read it:

And the side view, which is a bit messy around the edges:
