Got an extra 1GB RAM module, thanks to Antony who sold it to me at a very cheap price (aka $30 USD)!

I did not get this iMac DV 500MHz.

The machine was unable to be booted up, and I decided not to buy it. So I did not spend my AU$66.82 on an iMac G3.

I am still eyeing on an iMac G4 (flat-panel)

Nice iMac. :) What are you going to use it for?

I built myself a new PC over Thursday and Friday. :) It'll be used as a second gaming machine as well as a server, and I might use it to test new OSs and other stuff like that.

Here are a few pictures (sorry for the awful quality):

I'll try to get some better quality pictures later on.

If anyone is interested, the system uses a Pentium E2140 CPU running at 1.6Ghz on an Intel DG33FB motherboard. It has 1GB of memory and a 250GB SATA hard drive (both borrowed from my Core 2 system temporarily). It has a 16X Pioneer DVD-RW drive and the video card is an Inno3D Geforce 8600 GT.

The CPU name is quite odd, I'm not sure why Intel has returned to using the Pentium brand name. The CPU is the same as any Core 2 Duo 4xxx CPU but with half the cache (It has 1MB shared L2 cache).

In modern games like Command and Conquer 3 it seems to keep up quite well against my Core 2 Duo system as long as I keep the resolution lower than 1280x1024. :)

Nice new laptop. And extremely fast delivery.

I remember that it took more than 3 weeks for delivery when I bought my Dell laptop (about to throw away) back in 2001.

Thanks James.
Those photographs are actually cut-outs from year 2000 calendar, photograph by John Ingham. (I know I am cheap ;-) )

I sold my PowerBook. Using the money I got from the sale, I therefore bought an LG F1-2A6XP laptop (Price: $888). Here's some pictures of it:

(I'm posting from it btw)

And no, Antony, I'm not rich.

Congratulations!

So Don helped you choose this laptop?

I am really surprised that a person who hates wide-format screen would suggest you a 15-inch wide screen laptop.

This isn't my computer, but I at least get to help assemble and test it. It's a beast.

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, four cores @ 2.4GHz each
  • EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA-775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
  • EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX with 768MB of video memory, supports SLI and (supposedly) HDCP
  • OCZ GameXStream ATX12V 700W Power Supply
  • 2GB of Patriot DDR2-800 memory

The fun ends there; we're using a 19" CRT monitor and 80GB PATA hard drive with it. It'll be assembled either today or tomorrow, so I'll have some pictures up then. There's a video of the parts over here.

Laptop: HP Compaq nx6325 - Turion 64 X2 @ 2GHz, 2GB DDR2, 100GB HD, ATI Radeon X300, 15" LCD, Seven Pro
Handheld: Palm Treo 650 - Intel PXA270 @ 312MHz, 10MB RAM, 32MB flash, 2.7" LCD, Palm OS 5.4

Someone can buy all that kit and still use an 80GB PATA HDD and a CRT monitor? :? I would have dropped the video card down to a GTS and the motherboard down to a 650i SLI (or Intel P35) motherboard and used the resulting cash to buy a nice LCD. :D

What case is being used? For all that gear it better be something awesome like the Antec NineHundred. :P
