You can count four of those as desktops - only one of them has a workable battery. The others either last less than five minutes, can't be charged by normal means (at the worst I use an egg timer and alligator clamps with a current regulator), or just don't work at all.

You have two [sdp=87619]19-inch monitors[/sdp] and one [sdp=90010]40" Sony Bravia LCD TV[/sdp].

Antony does not have a LCD TV. He uses his iMac to watch TV.

Those were 22" monitors. But, I sold one of them and my older 19" LCD after I found myself never using them. (I bought a DVI -> HDMI cable and connected my computer to the Bravia TV)

Somehow, I really like Logitech mice.

I bought another Logitech mouse. This one is for my MacBook Pro.

Features Bluetooth and Laser technologies, and designed for Mac.

Next to my wireless Mighty Mouse (also a Bluetooth and Laser mouse):

Thanks. :) The 8600M GT is still a great GPU for notebooks. It's about the fastest GPU you'll find for a notebook that still offers decent battery life. Nvidia has a Geforce 8800M GT for notebooks, but it consumes a lot of power and isn't really suitable for anything other than desktop replacement notebooks.

Speaking of power consumption, this new card actually consumes a tiny little bit less power than my old 8800 GTS, despite needing two 6 pin PCI Express power connectors. It also runs much cooler. At an idle state, 57C vs. 68 or 69C for the 8800 GTS.

My Core 2 Duo E6300 had served me well for the last seventeen months, but I felt that it was time for an upgrade. So I picked a shiny new Core 2 Duo E8200. Very nice upgrade. :) This sucker has a 1.33GHz FSB and 6MB L2 cache. The E6300 had a seemingly puny 2MB L2 cache.

Now I need to decide what to do with my E6300.

What are the clocks for Core 2 Duo E6300 and Core 2 Duo E8200?

The 1.33GHz FSB and 6MB L2 cache look impressive.

I am sure that in comparison, my iMac (2.33GHz) is outdated.

1.86GHz vs. 2.66GHz. Roughly speaking, the E8200 is around 15% faster than the E6300 at the same frequency. I'm heavily into overclocking as well, so the frequency doesn't stay at the stock levels for long.

2.66GHz is fast. (Much faster than my two months old MacBook Pro.)

I don't hack or mod, so I look at the factory speed as a guide ;-)

My laptop has a wireless range extender antenna on it now.

Image

I actually got the antenna from an unused pair of TV rabbit ears. It's 64cm long and provides about +5dBi of gain on 802.11b/g. It should also work with the Bluetooth and 802.11a radios if I shorten it a bit (it's retractable, so that's easy).

Oh yeah, and it's held on with more duct tape.

Don,
Can you laptop pick up Wi-Fi signal all right before the added oversize antenna?

I know it improves the signal strength, but the duct tape and the size of the antenna simply destroy the look. If I were you, I would forgo the the improvement in signal and keep the laptop in its original look.

I could, except signal strength wasn't so great in some parts of school and outside. Now I can get a decent signal in significantly weaker areas.

I'm not really concerned about the "look" so much, to be honest.
