Netscape 7.02 Mail Problem

Postby Hawk123 » Tue 08 Jul, 2003 12:59 pm

When I first log on to N7, my email comes up when I press on the icon. But, after I exit out, every time I press on the icon, it won't go into my email. I have to exit N7 and Ctrl+Alt+Delete so I can shut down Netscape from the window, then when I go back into Netscape, the email starts that problem up all over again. It does not do this with N7.1, but he system resource problem is what is keeping me from using the browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean? It goes into mail the first time. You stay in mail. Exit, and then no mail, but what?
Do you want to go into Mail? And what Netscape are we talking about?
Anyway, check your Preferences|Appearance and the top section on the right about start up.

Netscape 7.02. When I exit out of my email, everytime I click on the icon, nothing happens. That is when I have to exit out of Netscape, shut it down thru Ctrl+Alt+Delete, go back into Netscape, and then I can check my mail. But, once again, when I exit out, it happens all over again.

Hi Hawk123

First I was suspicious you had a broken link/path problem with your mail icon... but the "CAD" release to get out of Netscape leads me to ask... what theme are you using? If your NOT using "Modern", please switch back and see if that cures the problem.

Do you have Netscape Webmail set up? It hangs on me most of the time, if it connects. The only cure is to remove that account.
The theme? I doubt it, but surely change it, as a test.

Thanks for all your sugesstions. I re-booted my computer after I registered NS7.02, and my email seems to be running fine. I also did not set up the netscape web mail, and when I was asked did I want to use Netscape Mail as my default mail client, I said no. Maybe that did the trick. I will keep my fingers crossed. I did not have any of these problems with NS6.2.3. It really makes you woder what systems the techs try these browsers out on, and if they fix any of the problems that come with it.

It does not make any difference if you set Netscape Mail, the client as default. The only time that it would come up is if you are in a website, and not in mail.
Netscape Webmail, as a propriatory IMAP account, as well as AOL's are a different story. In 6.2.3, I could connect Webmail, but it was doing the same as you describe. When, I first set up 7.0 both Webmail and AOL worked well. AOL continued to work fine in 7.01 and 7.02, while Webmail, usually, was giving a no connect Alert. When it did, I could not exit. If I closed a found a way to do it. In 7.1 things changed, again. Webmail and AOL in Netscape are convenient, but the irritations are not worth the effort.
There have been complaint about features left out from 4.x, or even minor switches in location, but this is major, because it is constantly evolving, in a worse way.
