Netscape 7.0 shuts down

Postby wewildbill » Wed 04 Sep, 2002 9:59 pm

After downloading 7.0 from netscape homepage, I found that when i went to my bookmarks and tried to use them that Netscape would shut down. At times I get an "error starting program, The netscp.exe file is linked to missing export XPCOM.dll:? Get sharedemptybufferhandle@NSXPIDL string@:@KAPV?$nsSharedBufferHandle@G@@X2 " . At that point netscape will not start.
Typing in a new URL and going to that site when i am allowed will get me there, but when i try to go to somewhere withing that site. i.e. Open Yahoo, (OK) , open Yahoo Games (OK) but as soon as i try to go to one of the games Netscape shuts down.
So far i have uninstallled 7.0, gone to this site and downloaded again from here. Same problem !!
I have also downloaded Netscape 6.2 again and get the error message from it, with the same problem with both bookmarks (says they are there but shuts down) and typing in a URL and going from there.
I thought maybe a Windows 98SE file might have gotten corrupted with installation, so reinstalled 98 again. Same problem.
My wife also upgraded from 6.2 to 7.0 at the same time I did and has the same problem. I am running a 1GB , Amd Athlon , 512MB ram .
Does anyone have any suggestions ????

Try to create a new Profile. If you are using the same profile as you used in 6.2, there may be some serious conflict.
