I have now upgraded to 7.02 and dislike having the "Undisclosed Recipients" line show up when I have BCC'd e-mail recipients.

Netscape 7.0 simply left the "To" field blank when I sent out a global e-message to an addressbook.

Is there any way to eliminate the "Undisclosed Recipients" line?

It is 7.2. I never saw such line unless I clicked on it, and then not entered anything. You have to face it, BCC is undisplosed recipients. Are you trying to send something BCC, and the To: address includes also an undisclosed recipients? I did a test sending to my self. And what I saw was more bothersome, showing the same recipient for both.

Yes, that's right. I am accustomed to the clean look of not having any text show up if I have chosen to BCC a very big AB group.

I think that you misunderstood me. I had a To: and a BCC. When I opened the message both were to directed to the To address. There was no mention of the Bcc address in the bcc address, nor I got any other line.

To: Undisclosed Recipients was added to prevent certain sendmail servers from adding their own version of a to: line that revealed the entire bcc: list. Your own immediate server may not do this, but I don't know what happens when your message passes through other SMTP servers on its way to its final destinations. I suppose no one is served by revealing a bcc: list. So if the potential for unintended disclosure doesn't bother you, set the pref mail.compose.add_undisclosed_recipients to false.

But, do you have any idea why both To: and Bcc would show the same address. Example letter sent To: f_perini@blahblah.com and Bcc: perini_f
The recipient shows f_perini for both messages.
I don't believe I ever sent anything this way, but it is odd that recipient perini_f would see that the mail was sent to f_perini. I suppose that it is ok for a Bcc to know that it was just a Bcc, and the original was sent to someone else, but not intuitive.

Thank you both for your thoughts on this...I solved the problem of a clean-looking BCC email event by simply putting my own email address in the 'TO' as well as the from, and then BCCing everyone else on the list.

Voila! It worked! No more "Undisclosed Recipients' line...much better!

Oh, well, yeah if you don't mind putting yourself in the To: field, that's the best solution.
