2 Minor Questions

Postby Kit » Sun 21 Sep, 2003 10:51 pm

Hi everyone -- gee it's been a long time since I was here to ask a question.

I have Netscape 7.1 and sometimes when I bookmark a webpage -- it does not "take". Even if I try it again -- no luck.

The other thing I wanted to know about,is: can I set up my email with a notifier to alert me that I have new mail, while I am surfing?

Thanks -- Kit

Please use a descriptive subject. It will help people to find the right thread in the future.

So you can't bookmark a webpage? Is your bookmarks file (profile) writable?

In email notification, yes.
In Edit | Preference | Mail & Newsgroups | Notifications,
you can the setting there. You can even use your "You've Got Mail" sound.
Once you've first checked your mail, it will start to check for new messages every xxx minutes.

Note:
For NS 7.0 to 7.02, you will need to have NS Mail window opened (minimised recommended) for notification to work.
In NS 7.1, there's no such problem.

I think that Antony meant to give a more descriptive title. Chance are that your post will not be read, unless someone is interested in all sort of posts.
As for your question about the bookmarks, I never a problem, as long as I click firmly. A few times I use a half click, and something happened, or just missed the "Bookmark this page" line. The entire bookmarking operation is a bit awkward, because you have to do so many things.
I want to place the bookmark in a folder, so I have to go to Manage Bookmarks. MozillaFirebird will, thankfully, start you on the right path.

The notifier is never going to work with the possibility of multiple account.
The best notifier is to have mail opened, but minimized, and periodically click on its button. I have little interest in finding out that I got more spam.
However there is a notification available in your preference. Unfortunately the sound part is not working correctly.
