Thunderbird - Email from WebTV with Forwarded .eml

Postby PaulD » Mon 22 Oct, 2007 11:28 pm

I recently reconfigured a friend from MS products to the FF/TB dynamic duo. She called with a "I can't read some emails" problem.

She has a couple of correspondents who are on WebTV. If either of them sends her an email that is Forwarding another email, the forwarded xxx.eml will not open (that is, be displayed) in TB. The attached .eml can only be read by copying (or detaching) it to another folder, from whence it will open in Outlook Express. The setting of TB option 'View > Display Attachments Inline' is irrelevant.

This occurs only with WebTV-sent emails. All her other attachments work just fine.

A Google search did find this item, which seems pertinent even though it is OE that is addressed.

.EML files are Microsoft-specific, they are Outlook Express Electronic Mail files.

MSN TV (formerly WebTV) is a Microsoft service.
