Can't Save Images w/Netscape

Postby nanetteb » Mon 08 Dec, 2003 3:09 am

Hello all!

About a month ago I upgraded to Netscape but I'm not able to save online images. I use this process with an online photo developing site to transfer images to my blog.

When I right click, I click Save Image to and specify the intended location but for some reason the images never show up in the specified location. I can go in through my Compuserve account and save them that way but not when I'm using Netscape.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

Could you save images before upgrading to 7.1? You say that you specified a location. Is anything happening after you select the location?
Do you see the progress dialog? If you change to it, you should see where Netscape is hiding the downloads. I recall that Mozilla1.4.1 or 1.5 was trying to put them in Program Files|Common Files|GRE|GRE of of NS7.1.

Along the same lines, you can look in Tools Download Manager to see if the image file was actually downloaded. If the download was completed you can try selecting the file in the download manager window and click on "Show File Location" in the top menu bar.

If you can't even open the Download Manager window, this could be another example of the Netscape 7.1 download bug. See this previous thread:
http://sillydog.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2648
Bottom line........if the Netscape Tools-Download Manager window fails to open at all, try this fix:
Close Netscape. turn off Quick Launch if enabled and delete the compreg.dat file, located in the C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\components folder.
