7.1 from Win 98 to XP -lost address book/mail filters

I had windows 98 on my set and then installed Windows home edition XP 2002. I lost my mail folder/mail filters/address book and abililty to send messages. I can receive messages but ATT does not support 7.1 so they gave me limited info on setting up outbound messages. Need to be pointed in right direction.
