7.1 Netscape Webmail account settings -- What's Correct?

Postby LuigiWriter » Mon 01 Mar, 2004 7:49 pm

:? I like to have two e-mail accounts. One for people or org's I know and trust, another for first time dealings or first time acquances. Netscape WebMail looked good as the latter except after signing up for it I can't seem to get any mail other than the welcome e-mail, even e-mail I send myself from my home e-mail. I'm not even sure which address I should be handing out.
xxxxxxxx@netscape.net ??
or
xxxxxxxx@netscape.com ??

I would love to see a screen capture of the account settings screens for a properly working NetS WebMail account. Dumb me thinking it would be something NetS would include in their Help files. If its there, my tired, tired eyes have deceived me again. And again. And another time. That too. -- Luigi

any help, even intellegent questions would help.

Are you trying to set up Webmail in Netscape Mail? If so, it is incredibly easy to set up. Anyone who has a Webmail account, it should be entered as netscape.net. Sorry, screen captures are not desirable, nor to place anyone's e-mail address for anyone to view. My question is if you tried to started at the website. It should work there, because you are not given a choice of .com or .net. In Netscape Mail, Webmail is set up as propriatory IMAP account. Again, you don't have choice, so you should not mess up the initial set up. As for accessing it, you should use the same password for both account, which is the IM password.
But, if you have been using Webmail for a while, you should not get only a Welcome message. In Netscape Mail you get it or you do not get it.
So, the Netscape Website http://home.netscape.com is where you start.

Is it possible to add the netscape IMAP account to the mozilla mail. If so what are the servers that should be listed in the "create new account" section.

Not, it is not possible to set up Webmail in Mozilla. The only two pluses of having NS7.1 is the possibility of accessing Webmail (it works after one year plus of failures, and probably loss of customers and good will) and AOL, if you have such monster.

Thanks. Easy and Simple are rarely in the lexicon of someone with a talent for making it harder on himself than most. OCD, ADD and the ability to miss entire lines in confirming Emails helps too. Now I can't look anywhere without the "netscape.net" showing up in flashing fire-engine red type. Funny, I just couldn't see it before. --Luigi

Luigi,

I would suggest that you spoof your email addresses listed above, or remove it completely. Spammers sometimes troll these BBS' and collected addresses from the threads. Just a preventive security measure.

Luigi,

By spoofing I meant to add x's, or an anonymous name, i.e.,
xxxxxxx@netscape.net, or user@netscape.net.

I didn't mean when you were actually sending mail, only here on the Forum.

Oh. Like you already did to my addresses [above] . I forgot how I had originally written them. Am I on the same wave length now?
