About Mozilla email

Postby Lorraine » Tue 23 Mar, 2004 10:01 pm

Hi all:
I downloaded Mozilla 1.6 over a month ago, and when I did, email came along with it. I keep hearing of people using Moz 1.6 and Thunderbird.

What am I using? Is it thunderbird, it has an M in the right hand corner, so it seems like it is Mozilla.

I hope someone can tell me where to look to find out or else just tell me. :)

You are using Moz1.6. Thunderbird would be quite different in appearance, if nothing else, but you would not see that User Agent here, since it is Mail only. I should be companion to Firefox., or whatever pyromaniac animal which is current.

You are using the Mozilla 1.6 application suite, that contains an e-mail and newsgroup client among its components such as the browser, Composer, and Chatzilla.
Thunderbird is the name of the stand-alone e-mail and newsgroup client being developed by Mozilla. It is analogous to the Mozilla Firefox browser in that it is a stand-alone program, as opposed to being an integrated part of the Mozilla application suite. It is far from being finished; as of now it is up only to version 0.5. An unofficial Thunderbird FAQ is available.
I doubt many routinely use the stand-alone Thunderbird e-mail and newsgroup client with the other components of the Mozilla 1.x app-suite, because Mozilla already has the e-mail and newsgroup client built in.

Thanks Andrew and Fulvio.

I downloaded it from Mozilla.org page.
I suppose it is the suite.
Yes, I have the email, newsgroups and Chatzilla too which I haven't used except once to try. It works.
Well, there are a few that I understand use TB with Mozilla and I
really didn't know what I had.

It is working fine right now. I haven't tried 1.7b I think is the latest. I will wait until they say it is stable.

Thanks again,
-Lorraine
