Hi,
I was wondering if files made in linux with open office 1.1 can be opened in windows with word xp

are you running like on a network? i know of a network system with windows and macs running and so far i havn't noticed any major uncapatability, i'd say yes it would.

If the file saved with OpenOffice.org is saved as a Word file, then MS Word should open the file with no problem. But it might look a little different.

I recall once saving something in OOo as a Word file to a diskette, then when I opened the same file in Word, it appeared that some of the formatting had dissappeared. But it was not a big deal to correct that though.
