504 Gateway Timeout

Postby endlesskev86 » Mon 03 May, 2004 1:03 am

So i have been visting this site for quite a while and I have no problem with it whatsoever. Until the past few days when I try to load it.. I get this msg:

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
[code=GATEWAY_TIMEOUT] A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.

Please contact the administrator.

I asked numerous people to go to the site, but it works perfectly fine for them. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this problem?? thnx in advance :)

O btw.. I am using Window XP Home edition, Telus ADSL, Window Explorer...

That site works fine here.

I'd try this:

 Go into Tools then Options in Internet Explorer

 Clear your history, Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

 Shutdown all open instances of IE, then reopen IE and try the site again.

If that doesn't work, I'd try downloading Firefox from the Mozilla Foundation and seeing if the site works in this different browser.

Ok, you should contact your ISP then.. they should be able to assist you with this.

Have you downloaded any of Microsoft's new 'fixes' lately. We did and we lost access to all sorts of sites. See the post at http://sillydog.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=32184#32184

I would guess that the site listed in your quote appears to be down. I could not reach it via IE or Mozilla.

Down site??

Postby Lelie » Sun 16 May, 2004 6:53 pm

Tx for that Q answer..As i am not a pc wizz..lol i would like to know if this means that the site is gone 4ever or if they just have trouble and that there is a chance that it could be restored. I have made so many friends on that site and 4 us 2 lose one another would be a sad day as we don't have all the personal addy's yet.
Bye from a cold S.A.

There is no way, available to me, to know what has happened to the site. The longer it appears to be down, the more I would worry about what happened. Being down a few days might be expected if it was due to a sudden technical problem. Severe technical or financial troubles might mean that the site is gone forever or, at least, for a long time.

All you can do is wait, keep trying the site, and see if it comes back up.
