SMTP Error Using Mozilla e-mail

Postby wayner1024 » Wed 30 Jun, 2004 9:53 am

Hi,

I am having a problem in setting up the Mozilla e-mail program.

Here is my configuration:
Linux RedHat 9.0 Enterprise
Mozilla (whatever version comes with RH9.0)
My internet provider is AT&T
I am runing the POP protocol

Here is my problem:
I have set up the Mozilla e-mail program up, and filled in the e-mail account using the wizard. I am able to receive e-mails for my account, but I can't send out any e-mails. The exact error message is:
"Sending of message failed"
"The message could not be sent because connecting to the SMTP server failed. The server mayu be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct..."

My incoming mail server is set to: ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
My outgoing mail server is set to: imailhost.worldnet.att.net

These settings are correct as I use them on another windows machine using MS Outlook.

I have searched this forum, and found some messages similar to this, but was confused at exactly what to do.

Any suggestions from the guru's?

Thanks in advance,
Wayne Richardson

I do not know if there is a difference with Linux, but just doing a Search brings up a lot. I will list below, a couple of links.
