My old ISP now recommends Mozilla over IE

Postby profman » Wed 22 Sep, 2004 10:18 pm

My old dial-up ISP originally used Netscape 4.7x, but later told me that Mozilla/Netscape was a waste to code for. Now they're singing a different tune. Take a look at what I found on their member page under the heading of Security Notice - Update:

After yet another attack targeted at Internet Explorer, we recommend that all XXXXXX members stop using Internet Explorer. XXXXXX recommends the Mozilla browser, or you may want to check our browser link page for other choices. If you would like more information about what is wrong with Internet Explorer, we suggest you look at some of the 200,000+ hits when searching Google for "internet explorer exploit". You cannot remove IE from Windows 98 and later, and you still need to apply all security updates for IE, and set the security level to high, even if you do not use it. Teehee! I can only hope that more of this will come to pass, as Mozilla and Firefox become more and more popular with IE users.

Antony's "Switch to Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox" pages should also be helpful to any IE user sitting on the fence, and trying to take that last step!

Profman, did you read this: Firefox hits 1,000,000 downloads in under 100 hours. This is from last Tuesday, but still awesome...

If this has been posted elsewhere, apologies, and I'll remove it from this reply.
