RE: the beige Power Macintosh G3 mini-tower system I'd acquired via eBay in February last year (see page 3) . . .

Since I've superceded that machine with the B&W PowerMac G3, I no longer have any use for it. It has been
gathering dust in a cupboard since I set up the B&W Mac with parts I cannabalised from both beige Macs.

I've decided to pass it on to a friend of mine. He's going to install some SDRAM and HDD over the weekend,
and I'll be installing Mac OS X 10.3.9 on it in due course, using pretty much the same method as before.

Meanwhile, I still own the beige Power Macintosh G3 desktop unit, the B&W PowerMac G3, and my G3 iMac.

Why not just get Tiger and be done with it? There are hacks around to install Tiger on a non-supported machine, just Google them.

The revision 1 of the B&W G3 supposedly has a faulty IDE controller. I believe the better idea may be one of the following:

Power Mac G4
Power Mac G4 Cube

Or a Mac Mini G4.

There are a few reasons why I can't install Mac OS X 10.4.x Tiger on any of my Macs. First and foremost being
the fact that I haven't got £89 to spare to buy a copy. Unless of course anyone would be willing to donate
the cash for me to get a copy. Secondly, none of my Macs have DVD drives, which is one of the system
requirements, since the Mac OS X 10.4.x Tiger is now only being distributed on DVD media.

The only one of my Macs that could ever be able to run Mac OS X 10.4.x Tiger, once it finally has a DVD drive
installed, is the B&W PowerMac G3. That has built in Firewire, which is one of the system requirements.
The other two Macs don't have any Firewire ports of any kind, either built in or otherwise.

Apple should be able to exchange the copy for a CD copy if you ask (of Tiger).

They were until December 31st last year, when the Media Exchange Program ended.

Since then, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger can only be officially acquired on DVD media.

Then use XPostFacto.

That must've been extended. Eitherway, I still don't have a spare £89 to buy it.
