2004 Freedom Tower Silver Dollar

Postby Ron Williams » Wed 20 Oct, 2004 6:18 pm

I am interested in coins and computers and although this is a computer forum I think many will be interested in this. The 2004 Freedom Tower Silver Dollar is not U.S. Currency according to National Collectors Mint (The maker of the coin). I do not know why if this company has created this coin as a fake or not. This coin is now not available for sale at this time due to a temporary court order against the sale of this coin. You can view the national collectors mint website at http://www.nationalcollectorsmint.com . Also you can view information against the national collectors mint at this website http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/wabc_101304_coins.html . I have called the company and they commented that "They are strongly defending the false allegations". I contacted the attorney generals office and they commented saying that all of the adds on TV and the internet are ficticious.

The best place: http://www.usmint.gov/

I used to collect coins as a child, in fact, my grandfather placed my name on a U.S. Mint mailing list many years ago, so that when they issued uncirculated and proof sets, I would receive the brochure and order form for them. After not purchasing them for a number of years, I recently received a catalog from the Mint with the 2004 issues.

The Northern Mariana Islands is a commonwealth of the U.S., as is Puerto Rico, and the official currency is the U.S. Dollar, see http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destination ... /money.htm

I understand this but the U.S. does not offer non official U.S. currency. So this company was the only one to sell it.

That would appear to be the case.
