problem logging into netscape.net webmail

Postby FadiAhdi » Wed 08 Dec, 2004 3:13 pm

Edward, I'm having the same exact problem you are having, and it started two days ago as well.. I get the same error messages, even when I try to reset my password.. If you find out what's going on, please let me know, because my netscape account is the one I keep all important emails in.. Thanks

If you ever get the mail to work, I recommend that you move, forwarded, anything out of a Netscape Webmail account. It is very dangerous to leave important e-mail there. You should try to get a POP account whose mail can be backed up.
So, you are trying to access Webmail from AIM? That's a strange way to do it. The netscape website has worked for me very well.
But, if you ever had AOL, even on a trial basis, and then used the same username for Webmail, you will not be able to reset the password, nor access the account in some cases. I don't know if having AIM counts, but I know that this behavior is with AOL.

They are apparently still having problems with it, since I am getting the same thing tonight. One of the pages at aim.com was to have sent my password to my e-mail address, that function worked, however no such e-mail was received. My e-mail address is correct and correctly retrieved the username in question as mentioned above.

If they do not fix the problem, then I am going to abandon it.

If you are having problems, be sure to empty all cookies. Sometimes I've noticed that a failure cookie is placed after a failed signon. This cookie prevents future signons from being successful. Even if it doesn't work, it is worth trying.....

I'm pleased to report that it's working again this afternoon. The AIM login also works.

This is the same problem you've been posting about - but it's not fixed for me - is anyone else still having this problem. I've tried emptying my cookies but no luck!

I'm still having the problem too.. I'm trying to access my netscape webmail through netscape.net, and it's still not working.. I've been to the unofficial netscape faq page, and I read in the forums there that netscape is working to fix this problem, which seems to be affecting MANY accounts.. Hopefully we'll all be access our email soon.

They are aware of a problem, and then two, three, and who knows how many. I have three fully operational accounts, which I never lost for a day, since Oct 2003. I wish I could let you use them, but I don't trust them a bit.
I have been in contact with the fellow responsible for Webmail, and he is aware of problems. I ,really, don't know what is being done. But, never, ever use any type of webmail for anything important.

I have three accounts as well, one wound up collecting spam, but only one of them had the problem logging in, which cleared up. I had accessed it via the web page, not from within AIM.

Same here. I don't use AIM at all. But, surely would like to know if this is a problem at all. In theory, Webmail should be accessed first via browser, any browser. If that does not work, there is a problem. Set up in Netscape6/7 has worked, but some people have had problems. One should not expect that Webmail would work that way. Now AIM?
If Webmail is not accessible via browser, it is a problem. Any other way, without checking the browser is, may be an inconvenience, but not a problem.

"AOL spokeswoman Krista Thomas said in an e-mail that the company will reinstate all affected screen names no later than Monday, Dec. 13".

Sounds like today. So, go for it, and let us know what results you get.
But, I am not sure that this was the problem, but also, I could not understand why people were trying to sign on via AIM.

Netscape vs AOL power struggle or conspiricy?

Postby wtknight » Mon 03 Jan, 2005 6:26 pm

This is just a thought that came to ming. Is it possible that either Netscape or AOL are attempting to force the free webmail users to sign up for there non-free ISP services in order to resolve our email problems? Just a thought.

I have been with AOL for six years, and I have had ample evidence of klutziness. I have never seen deviousness. There are excellent webmail services around. My favorite is excite.com.
