accessing e-mail in netscape 7.2

Postby kazak1251 » Sun 07 Nov, 2004 8:11 am

For the last 5 or 6 days, I have been unable to access my e-mail in netscape 7.2. I ahve never had this problem before. Whwn I attempte to sign in, the following appears directly aboeve the sign user name box:
You have entered an invalid Screen Name or password. Please try again. If you are an AOL member and you also use AOL Instant Messenger with the same Screen Name, you must use your AOL password at Screen Name Service instead of your AIM password. If you are not an AOL member and you've forgotten your password, click 'I forgot my password'
If I then click on the "I forgot my password" link, an erroer message appears, which states: (in upper left corner)-[JavaScript Application]---and the message reads----The service you are trying to reach is temporarily unavailable-please try your request again.
I will appreciate anyone's help in this matter.......thank you

I thought I was the only one this was happening to. I've been trying everything. Sometimes logging in from different browsers, sometimes just trying over and over. Then when I finally can get to my mail I am not sure what I did that finally allowed it to open. Lately attachments haven't been sending either. I'm not sure if the two are connected or not. I have to send out of another mail. I've stuck with NS for almost 3 years but this is maddening.

just a further addendum to this......Netscape does not have a free tech support area for help. They charge, I think, $34.95 per each single problem, and they do not guarantee resolution.

You are not saying what type of account you are using, but, I can tell that it is about Netscape Webmail, i.e. @netscape.net.
This question is asked so many times, and I answered it that I am nauseous.
1.Netscape Webmail is not Netscape mail. Webmail is what you access at the website. There is an odd way to hooking up to it in Netscape Mail, which is the mail client where one sets up all sort of accounts.
2. One can get an account set up if the IM password is used, not the password of the account. The statement account AOL account is not correct, it is the reverse. So, assuming that you have an AIM account, an AOL account and a Webmail account, and the passwords are, respectively: george, george1 and george2, you will need to use "george" for all three.
I happen to have both two AOL and two Webmail accounts(all with, with different passwords), plus an AIM account, which I never use, with different password yet. The four mail accounts use the AIM account passwords.
Are you confused enough? There is more, but I will stop here.

The tech support page also says:
"The following items are NOT supported under this process and you should refer to the Help section for each of these products: @netscape.net, netscape radio, mynetscape.com and netscape web mail"

There is an e-mail for reporting problems with the server, but I haven't experienced the same problems that you have. Have you forgotten your password or are you just unable to login?

So, this is now up on the Netscape Mail screen name sign on page.

Having trouble logging in?

We are aware of some issues out customers have been experiencing.

We are working on a fix for this and it should be available shortly. Thank you for your patience.

There have been problems since, at least, July, if not earlier, but this is a new one

invalid screen name or password on netscape email

Postby christinasullo » Tue 26 Feb, 2008 9:37 am

I have had a netscape.net email account for several years and I know it changed to aim.com last year but I have been able to log in exactly the same way with the same screen name and password until yesterday. Yesterday I got the message invalid screen name or password. I tried clicking on forgot your password and it sends an email to the email address I can't access. I haven't been able to find any online or phone support from netscape or aim. I am desperate to get into my email. I set up a new account with aol and want to transfer all my saved items from the old email to the new one but am unable to do that as well. Please can some one help me??????? Thanks.

Christina,
if you are trying to do what you do in Mail, I would not know. If you cannot do it at the website, i.e. aim.com, it is possible, but I have stopped relying on this mess, since netscape.net has not existed for at least 18 months, and, I don't have a clue on the commitment of AOL to these webmails. I had created aim.com accounts with the same settings as netscape.net, and it has worked fine. I have not had a netscape.net account since it was discontinued, and it may have been dropped if not used for 30 days.
I would suggest to create some other account, and stay away from these antiquated set ups.
And, if the mail was in an IMAP account, you either get it or not. You can't save anything like that.
But, I will check on this, and report if I find anything.
