I feel that Netscape, or AOL, or Mercurial Communications for that matter are simply setting themselves up for a failure.

I think I am missing something... Who is Mercurial Communications and what do they have to do with Netscape? I've seen the company name mentioned several times.

I never paid attention to the reference but, a simple search gave me a tons of references to a Canadian software development company

Mercurial Communications is the name of the firm that AOL has outsourced development of the Netscape Browser prototype to, and is actually doing the work:

There are quite a few references to Mercurial Comm.+AOL= Netscape development.
Anyone who felt that the development would be done in house, by AOL, must have forgotten what they did with the Netscape people. Mercurial is a good company, and what is AOL trying to do? What was not understood when Netscape6.x came out, i.e. that many webpages written with Front Page, in particular, would not be rendered as they were with IE or IE engine.
As I said earlier, during the beta testing of AOL7.0 Gecko, the majority of the testers were horrified at the idea of having no choice but the gecko-based browser.
And, then there was a large minority which suggested that if the gecko-based browser failed, there would be an option to swith to an IE-based browser. Is it not IE View like it.
You have to face it AOL is a business, and run poorly to boot. What would one expect?

Hi! And seasons greetings to all. I was hoping that someone could help me in getting a Netscape tab to open when I click on a web link in an email in Outlook. I can get it to open the the Netscape browser but another set of problems occur. If Netscape is already running ,it wont let me open another !

You placed the same question in the main board, and it was not placed in a way that you could be helped. Look at my answer to what you said, and if it does not work, rephrase the question.
You don't say here, nor in the other post that IE opens when you click on the
mail link.

When the PRofile Manager opens, I select the profile, it shows a illiagle message like Netscape has perpormed a illiagle acrtion, it will be cloesd, but it launches and runs smoothlys

I have Netscape 7.2, maybe 7.1, Mozilla 1.7.3, and FireFox 1.0, and NS Prototype installed.... As for the prototype, I dont remember seeing a profile thing. Would it be because of all the other gecko based browsers I have installed and running every now and then and the Prototype is running off their profiles without asking? I dont remember seeing anything about profile after installation unless I skipped it without paying it much attention. Anyone else experience the same thing?

Yes IE does open the link when IE is my default browser. When Netscape is my default browser and already running, I get a profile box opening to select profile. Default profile is the only profile showing. If I select default, I get the error message stating that this profile is already running and I must select another profile. If NS is not running, it will open the link. But if I select another link to open, The same thing occurs. Netscape does not allow you to open more than one instance of the browser.

I do 2 profiles, it is recommened for me.

It would be difficult for me to prove the point, as I don't have anything but Netscape, Mozilla, or Thunderbird, in use. I guess that only way to prove the point would be to have a Microsoft mail client as default, as well as a Netscape, as browser default.
In my case, I have Thunderbird0.9 as default mail, and Firefox1.0 as default browser. I have also Firefox0.9.3 installed, each with its own profile. But when I click on a message in Firefox1.0 opens, without sending me to a profile manager. But, whatever you say may happen with Netscape. I have no idea about the NS prototype. It is much too soon to trust it as default.
