7.2: can you delete attachments & save the message?

Postby katten41 » Wed 17 Nov, 2004 8:29 am

To save disk space, can I delete an attachment of an incoming email but retain the message itself?

Thank you in advance.

Steven,

You can do it like this:

Highlight the message
Click on: Message | Edit message as new
Delete the attachment

Next:
File | Save as | Draft
Close the message

Go to the Drafts folder and right click the message
Select: Copy to or Move to your Mail Account | Inbox (or Archive Folder)

Now delete the original message with the attachment.

Thanks very much, Ramona. It worked!

Did you happen to see my posted query of today regarding file size in 7.2?

She answered.
"Netscape hasn't abandoned this setting, it is in the "View" drop down menu:

View | Sort by | Size"

And, by the way the story is more complicated than you think. 4.79, and the latest 4.8 cannot handle the newest format, and first NS6 and now 7 were built from scratch. And, I swear that the developers never saw 4.8, saw could not appreciate what they were leaving out. I was unaware of9 of 10 features which were left.out, so I did not feel that there was anything missing.
Try to get used to the new program.

View: Sort By: Size, 7.2

Fulvio

Thanks for your reply, but on my View Menu, there is no "Sort By" option. I downloaded this 7.2 from the Sillydog site.

I guess I have no choice but to take your advice and "get used to the new program."

I did not mean that you should get used to something which does not work.
There is a View in the browser, and an entirely different View in Mail.
If you checked while you were at this website, you would see a much shorter menu. If it is lacking while you are in Mail, it is a different story.

Steven,

Did you find the "View" button in Mail & Newsgroups?

View But tton

Postby katten41 » Sun 28 Nov, 2004 5:28 pm

Ramona,

On 7.2, the View menu doesn't contain what columns to display. That I found in the upper right in a little unnamed icon which allows you do what I want: add columns. So I've solved the problem of displaying file size but am scratching my noggin about the design of the interface and its rationale.

Sorry to be so long in responding, but the holiday got in the way.

Best regards, and thanks.
