Upgrading from Mozilla 1.6 to 1.7

Postby djreg » Wed 01 Dec, 2004 5:58 pm

I need your opinion..................should I upgrade Mozilla 1.6 to 1.7? Everything is working perfectly well as is except for SpywareBlaster which does not recognize Mozilla 1.6, and that's minor to me. Just wondering if there are enough advantages to upgrade to do so or if I should leave well enough alone. Considering my past history of problems I'm hesitant to "rock the boat"! thanks.

I apologize that I haven't kept track of your troubles with Mozilla. I am fairly pragmatic and would rather not change anything if the odds say that I might have trouble. Only you can make this decision. Off hand, I can not list the changes from version 1.6 to 1.7.3, but I, personally, consider even version 1.7.2 to be old and anything earlier quite ancient.

It should be absolutely simple to upgrade to Mozilla 1.7.3 from Mozilla 1.6. Just uninstall Mozilla 1.6, which leaves behind your profile info, then install Mozilla 1.7.3. Continue to use the same profile as before. Of course, I would insist that you copy your entire profile directory and even the entire Mozilla.org folder before any changes are made. That should ensure that you have a backup of everything.
