XP Remote assistance

Postby Blurr » Sat 12 Mar, 2005 2:24 am

Can't seem to get XP remote assistance to work using windows messenger. I'm trying to connect to a friends computer. I am running XP Pro and he is running XP Home. Remote assistance is enabled on both computers. When he sends an invitation and I accept , my computer tells me that remote assitance failed.......Try again! Can anyone offer any ideas on this? Thanks

You may need to configure whatever firewall you're using to allow a Remote Assistance session. Windows Firewall in SP2 and ICF in RTM/SP1 I believe come preconfigured for this sort of thing, while with ZoneAlarm, McAfee Internet Security, and other third-party firewalls, you would need to configure Remote Access in Program Controls to be able to access the Internet and act as a server.
