FYI, some of the changes on 1.15 (dropmarker on search box) and 1.16 (internal code, namely install.rdf) are per request of Netscape. They needed these changes to host Modern Modoki on the Theme Park page.

It took nearly 2 months since I first submitted the theme to Netscape.

Peter,
They also requested to change the engine icon from N mark to Firefox mark, confusing your theme with Modern Modoki original. :)

Congratulations, I was hoping you submitted it and they will accept it. I did not want even to try submit my version as I could imagine their problems with it. Well, they may be a bit confused about so many Netscape fans :-)
but I gave you credit in every theme file and stated openly on my site that I actually only changed the logo (although I am planning to make more changes to Modoki -I hope you dont mind). I was mailing a bit with Netscape browser project manager so that may one of the reason he thought I am behind this theme.

Anyway I made N version also from 1.16 and uploaded it to my site http://ns8.virt.cz

Is it conceivable that perhaps a Firefox version will be developed for those of us who use Firefox? :?:

Hmmmm.
I think there's a lot of Modern Themes for Firefox on Mozilla Update site. But if there are many needs, lowandsh (theme author) might want to try porting Modoki theme to Firefox.

You are not satified with these themes on Moz Update site?

Well... I guess you could say that it's not so much my being unsatisfied with the themes available for Firefox. Rather, I happen to love the Modern Modoki theme more. :)

modern modiki

Postby richard mitnick » Wed 20 Jul, 2005 3:57 pm

I am late to this thread, but...

I really enjoy the coloration of this theme. I do not like that the upper left icon, which in so many software programs we are using to double click to close, has been hijacked to be a Netscape destination icon.

Lowandsh has made some Modern Modoki variations.
You can find Modern Modoki (win), which is Windows-native title bar version, from Modern Modoki Family page.
Hope this fits to your needs.

Modern Modoki for Canadian version is also available.

I actually wanted to make something like a mix of these two but I dont know how :-(
I would love to see the original theme with the difference that the Netscape throbber would be big and on the right side as it is in the win modification (and previous Netscape versions).

Modern Modoki 1.17

Postby Joji » Mon 10 Oct, 2005 10:50 am

Now Modern Modoki is ver 1.17.

What's New.

  • Borderlines are added on toolbars of Bookmarks Manager and DOM Inspector.
  • Changed toolbar design of JavaScript Console and Print Preview.
  • Lock icon (SSL) color was changed to yellow which should be easier to recognize.
  • Other various color adjustments.

As usual, you can install the new version from lowandsh's site.

modern modiki 1.16

Postby richard mitnick » Tue 11 Oct, 2005 4:11 pm

Yea and huzzah. 1.16 gives back the upper left corner to close out Netscape, what we are all used to in so many pieces of software.

I mean, I know it was a right-click, but who wants to have to remember that?

I am very happy!!

Modern Modoki 1.17

Postby richard mitnick » Tue 11 Oct, 2005 6:31 pm

So, I get home from work, where I happily started using 1.16, which gives us back the upper left hand corner icon to close Netscape, and I wend my way to the install page only to find 1.17.

So, I try 1.17, and he has taken back that icon for Netscape's use as a destination vehicle!!

Yuck Yuck.

I will keep 1.16, and I will shuck 1.17 and try anything new before I keep it.

Nice theme again.

Besides using Modern Modiki, I use Netscape's Black Metal often.

Well, that could be true for Windows users.
Otherwise, the "X" on the top right corner is still available.

Would lowandsh mind if I published an edited version of Modern Modoki (win) with the Seamonkey/NS7 Modern theme buttons instead of the ones in the modern modoki theme?

Hi, Pu7o.
Sorry for late reply.

Lowandsh said he doesn't mind. :)
Be sure to add lowandsh's name on the "contributor" section of the install.rdf, and leave my name already on the "contributor" section as is. Thank you.
