Origin of Tabs

Postby peterlake » Thu 19 May, 2005 7:10 am

Just curious, but when did Netscape/Mozilla first introduce tabbed browsing? NS 6.0? 7.0? Or was it a different browser altogether? Thanks
UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
So, what's next?

The first tabbed browser ever was Opera, who used an MDI interface since the very beginning. Mozilla just followed their footsteps i think right after the milestone releases (i'm not sure about this).

Actually, the first browser with tabs was an IE based browser called NetCaptor. Mozilla and Opera added tabs shortly after that. Mozilla added tabbed browsing in 0.9.5 (October 2001).
