Address Book Pops Up, then Disappears when forwarding e-mail

Postby skippercdruscg » Sun 09 Oct, 2005 1:04 am

When I try to Forward an e-mail, I click on the TO icon. My address book pops up for about one second and then disappears! Repeated clicks on the icon have the same result. I can't forward anything that way. Thanks!

Are you talking about Netscape Webmail or another web-based mail account using Netscape 8?

I don't have Netscape 8 installed but I tested forwarding an e-mail Netscape Webmail in Mozilla by going to http://mail.netscape.com/MessageList.aspx

I opened one of my old mail messages in the Inbox, then I clicked the "Forward" button, which gave me a Netscape Compose window. Then I typed the e-mail address where I wanted to forward the message, in the blank field next to "To". There is no need to click on the "To" button! (when I did, I also saw the address book). To send the mail, click the Send button.

Hope that helps.

Hi Alice, I was talking about NS Webmail. In the previous edition of Netscape 8.0.3, when I cliked on FORWARD, I also got the compose pane, but I could also click on my Address Book/Contact List to put into the TO spot. I could click "Select All" and then send.

Now when I click on Forward I get a compose pane, but there's no Address Book/Contacts list. So when I click on the TO Icon, my address book comes up momentarily and disappears.

It isn't convenient when I have to Forward an e-mail to MANY addees and I have to type in all of the individual's e-mail addresses!

Thanks!!

Ah, I see. You want to forward the same message to a group of people, and when you click the "To" button in the Compose window, the address book won't stay on the screen. I have no problem doing that in Netscape Webmail, using the link I gave earlier in Mozilla. The address book doesn't disappear when I click the "To" button, and I can pick all the addresses I want and they will appear in the compose window

Do you have a problem accessing the Address Book itself?

What about when you access your Netscape webmail directly, by going to http://mail.netscape.com/MessageList.aspx - any problem forwarding a message or opening the address book?

There is a help link that explains how to create a mailing "distribution" list that might be a workaround for you: http://mail.netscape.com/Help/detail_ad ... nlist.aspx
You could create a mailing list inside the address book, then type in the name of the list in the Compose window instead of the individual addesses when forwarding mail to a group of people. There is also a troubleshooting page you can look over at http://mail.netscape.com/Help/detail_mi ... oting.aspx

Hopefully that helps. If not, maybe someone who uses Netscape Webmail with Netscape 8 installed will jump in and help you further.
