Window Washer and Netscape 7

Postby DianaW » Thu 19 Dec, 2002 8:13 pm

Hi! I was using Window washer and Netscape 4.7, then i've upgrade my Netscape to 7.0 and every time i start my PC the window washer window opens and it stays. It is asking to choose identity, but it is nothing to choose. The only way to close it is to do AtlCtrlDel. Have you ever seen something like that?

I don't trust that type of software. I saw a thread not too far back. If you have Window Washer v.4.7, it is claimed to work with just about any browser, but I could find no mention in their FAQ that individual browsers had to be added. The problem may be that MW senses something, but can't figure out what it is, and, thus it hangs. Just a "duh" error.

A couple of questions... Your OS is XP? Which version of Window Washer are you using? And exactly what do you mean by "choose identity?" What is the exact message? If you click on "Change Wash Directories" on the bottom right side of the main window, you find at the bottom of the wash directory window a Netscape User Profile section in which you can browse to your NS profile and cache (click on "edit"). You must also check the "Netscape" box on the main window after you select your NS profile.

Window Washer worked for me when I installed NS 7.0 and 7.01. It does not, however, recognize Mozilla based browsers other than NS. So you need to create a custom wash item for any browser other than NS or IE.

To disable Window Washer from loading at startup, click on the "Wash Options" tab on the left side of the main window, under Washer Settings, then uncheck "Load at Windows Startup."
