Using Netscape 7.1 and I cant open the Netscape mail icon

Postby dbergner » Tue 02 Aug, 2005 1:58 pm

This morning I tried to check my email - I use the mail on Netscape and the icon would not launch. It worked yesterday~! I have not a clue as to why it wont work now. I have checked my personal firewall and the program is "permitted", I have run virus check, and I have tried to click the launch icon within the Netscape folder. What else can I do? I have some emails in there I want. Any advice will be so appreciated!

Your post can be interpreted in a number of ways:
1. You have a shortcut to access mail directly, without opening the browser.
2. You don't mention this, but is there no response with NS, browser , and so you can't access your mail. But the rest of your post indicates that you cannot open NS, at all.
It often happens that one day things work, and the next they don't.
You can take a look at this:
Netscape Won't Start •• Nothing Happens! [which describes a] problem with NS7.1 using WinXP, which you seem to have.
I would download 7.2, uninstall 7.1 making sure that its GRE folder is gone, and then install 7.2. You personal settings will not be affected.

Thank you so much! Your solution worked!!! I was completely stressed about this and of course it was hot and humid today - which only added to the stress level I had!!

I am glad that it worked. And, I know about the heat and humidity, quite well.
This has been the worst ever here, or it may be due to the fact that I am getting old. By the way what did the trick?

I simply downloaded Netscape 7.2, uninstalled 7.1 and then installed 7.2. Easy.

Phew - I am so glad for your advice!

DB,
that's the way to do it. I wish I knew why some people are having so many problem, when it should be straightforward.. Now, I hope that you will not disprove what has been said before.

imap mail netcenter.com login failed

Postby Gilariverrider » Wed 10 Aug, 2005 5:45 pm

I use Netscape 7.1 browser and the Netscape Communicator for my email.

Two days ago I noticed that although the mail screen opened after I clicked the mail icon in the task bar to "Get Mail" I got the following message:

"Failed to connect to server imap.mail.netcenter.com"
(followed by)
"login failed"

I can however sign-in at netscape.com and access my mail account online - but I can't use my browser's email feature as I have for the past 2 years.

Any suggestions?
