*EMERGENCY* Help needed please!!!!!

Postby keith » Sat 20 Aug, 2005 1:09 am

Hey all. as you know, i got a computer with windows xp home edition. 510 mb ram, 1.5 ghj processor.

Someone sent me this block checker program through msn, and for kicks, i downloaded it. It don't work... and i cannot get rid of it. my virus program tells me theres a susicious script detected. I traced it back, and tried to delete it. it tells me i do not have access to do that. I uninstalled it thropugh the control panel, but some is left, and McAfee keeps givin me this message, and i am afraid its gonna harm my computer. i did virus scan, adaware, and spybot. nothing is detected. how do i get rid of these? and fast?
Thanks
Keith

First of all, can you give me the file name of whatever it is you consider suspicious? I would suggest that you do a Google search on whatever the filename is. It sounds like you have a rogue command script or JScript/VBScript installed and running through a scripting host.

If you can give me the location, I might be able to give you a way that you can get it off your drive.

Please use a descriptive subject next time.

Using words with no description to the situation but to steal attention won't do you any good.

In this case, go to Start -> Run (or if it is not there, Windows key + R) and type in msconfig. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the entry for blocker.exe. It will not remove the file, but it will stop it from loading at startup.
