Scheduled downtime, 8th Sept early morning (CST)

Postby Antony » Tue 06 Sep, 2005 7:05 pm

Dear SillyDog701 members,

I just received a notice from SillyDog701's hosting company. There will be a downtime for approximately 20-30 minutes in 8th Sept early mornings (CST).

During a recent facility inspection, Facility Engineers have found it necessary to correct a power issue that affects your server. Our facility engineers will need to take your server down to address this problem, and as such a maintenance window has been scheduled for Thursday, September 8th, 2005, from 0000hrs to 0600hrs CST, during which time this work will be performed.

This maintenance is necessary in order to provide your server with our high availability offerings. The server will only be offline for approximately 20-30 minutes between this time, and not the entire duration.

All SillyDog701 owned domains (including FTP) hosted in this dedicated server would be affected. SillyDog701 apologise for any inconvenience.

Out of curiosity, does this affect the sillydog.com and mozfaq.org servers as well?

From SillyDog701's secondary server:
We have just been advised that once again, our upstream provider is having an emergency window Wednesday morning. This period of maintainance will almost certainly disrupt our network connectivity for a period of time. The window will last from 1:00 AM CST - 6:00 AM CST.

The window is from 1:00AM to 6:00 AM CST (7th Sept). No other details is available.

From our experience, the scheduled down time should usually less than 20 minutes, although the precise downtime is not known.

SillyDog701's secondary server currently host sillydog.com domain. It is independent to SillyDog701's main dedicated server.

Both servers had their downtime, and are all now backed online.

Since I do not have any notice from hosting companies, I assume both went well.
