The userChrome.css hack does not work...

It worked for me. Be sure to clear out all previous entries in userChrome.css before applying the new hack. Also, be sure Mozilla Firefox is closed while appling the userChrome.css hack, then restart Firefox.

Oh... I don't have anything in my userChrome.css file. I forgot to close Firefox so, I'm going to try it soon.

It can be seen at the bottom tray that Firefox is waiting for server ...

I've noticed that if the Adblock extension is added on to Firefox 1.5 Beta 1, (at least on my own computer), the Macromedia Flash plugin does not work correctly: Sound will play, but there will be no video. Disabling the third-party Adblock extension (that I didn't use much, anyway) allowed Flash to work properly.

Could this be the fact that AdBlocker is for Firefox 1.0.x, not 1.5?

Adblock 0.5.2.039 will only work with Firefox versions from 0.7 to .10+. As far as I know it hasn`t been updated for F1.5Beta yet.

Available as an update?

Will beta2 be available to beta1 users through the new update system? This seems like a perfect opportunity to test it out before Firefox ships.

Yes, beta 1 users are expected to see a notification from the update service shortly after beta 2 becomes available (within a day or so).
More on the new "incremental" update system can be found in these threads:
