shortcut icon (aka favicon) in Netscape 7

To display a page icon (shortcut icon or favicon), you will need to have the icon in 16x16 pixels and in the html head section of a document like so:
Code: Select all
<LINK REL="icon" HREF="images/sillydogicon.png" TYPE="image/png">
<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/images/global/branding/sillydogicon.ico">

Netscape 7 and Mozilla can also display Windows .BMP and .ICO images on all platforms.

You need to put the following code between your meta tags and title tags:
Code: Select all
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">
<link rel="icon" href="favicon.gif">

Make sure you have two 16x16 pixel sized graphics in the root folder of
your website, one in gif format, the other in ico format. They don't have
to be called favicon though. For instance, if you name the two graphics,
something like "myicon", then your code would need to reflect this . . .
Code: Select all
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/myicon.ico">
<link rel="icon" href="myicon.gif">
UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020823 Netscape/7.0 (CK-DJGM-i.net)
SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

I thought one icon would do. (I only use one in SillyDog701.)
