By posting what you did, you've shown them that they have an audience! ;)

Sorry guys,

Since the change to Message Centre 3.0 (phpBB 3), I haven't implemented the same amount of security measure as before.

If you wish to report a post or wish to report a spam, instead of replying, you can simply click following icons on the top right of the post.

Sorry, I have been pretty busy recently.

Hi Dave.

Generally I would agree with you and not bother responding. The OP's post was such that it took a second look to determine it was nothing more than SPAM. Naturally I would never click on the links provided or the links placed in their signatures. But some newcomers could be fooled by this sort of tactic. So... responding doesn't always give these jerks an audience or at least not the audience they would hope for. I identified the clown as a SPAMMER, not something he would appreciate.

I agree, Antony, that identifying them by reporting them is the best response and I'll follow that suggestion from now on.

The majority of spam posts aren't from actual people. They're from computer written programs. The come here because it's a forum, with members. A lot of members. And that's a lot of people, who we know aren't interested, but to them they might be. Or the might just be stupid enough.

It's pretty much like this: Once a site get's popular, it gets spam. TheLimeBlog is even getting spam now, and I rarely have more than a few visitors a month.
