Why do you use Netscape?

Postby KENFU » Sat 15 Mar, 2003 8:19 pm

Hiya folks! I'm writing a Recommendation report for my English class and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm writing a report on how to improve Internet Explorer. So, my question to you is
1. "What would you like to see improved or upgraded in Internet Explorer?".
2. "Which browser is your default browser and why? (may be the same reasons as 1)

Thanx for any help!! :)

THREAD MOVED from Netscape Browser Archive to Microsoft Windows.

Reason: Message pertains to Internet Explorer, not Netscape.

I will start with question 2. I am using Netscapes of all sorts, past, present and future(i.e. Mozilla), so it difficult to have one as default browser. In fact, at any given time all may be default. Why? First and foremost, you are probably aware of the fact that there have been so many Windows updates, due to vulnerability of Internet Explorer, which is tightly integrated with the operating system. By now the Windows Update have probably doubled the size of IE.
Hackers have hit Internet Explorer, as well as viruses, directly or indirectly through the mail Client: Outlook Express.
Internet Explorer would be improved by keeping it separate from the operating system.

DJGM's Shortlist of Ways To Improve Microsoft Internet Explorer . . .
    1. A total rewrite, from the ground up, with fresh new rendering engine.

    2. Offer the chance to choose between standalone IE, that doesn't tie
itself to the OS, or a fully integrated version of IE that does, while
warning of the risks involved with using the integrated version.

    3. Increased support for the recommended W3C web standards, such
as CSS, XHTML, plus other standards that Mozilla and Opera support.

    4. Discontinue support for insecure technologies like ActiveX and VBS.

    5. Better still, discontinue IE altogether, and let proper browsers thrive!

Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

1-4 tells everything. I know how you feel about IE(what is it?), so #5 is only logical.
