Windows 98 & Windows XP

Postby Andrade » Thu 01 May, 2003 7:29 pm

:?: I've a dual boot system: Windows 98 and Windows XP, each one in a particular partition.
Question: Can I run Windows 98 inside Windows XP, via command line?

Thank you

No, but you could run Windows 1.01 in a command line :D

Actually, you would need a VMware virtual machine, and a copy of 98 to install into it, then it could run 98 from within XP.

It would be ungodly slow though.

Andrade,

If I may ask a question, why would you want to run W98 from within XP? What advantages do you foresee?

Hi sisyphus88

By convenience. If I want to run a program designated for Win9.x, (for example earlier games) without rebooting the computer.

If you wish to run Win98 inside XP, you'll need a program such as Virtual PC.

XP Comes with a program that trys to settle conflicts. It's called the Program Compatibility Wizard and can be found in the Accessories in the start menu.
