Windows Environment Variables

Postby xadamz23 » Sat 18 Oct, 2003 12:13 pm

Ok, I feel stupid even asking this question but I havent messed with window's environment variables much.

I want to set a variable to open a folder, just like the TEMP variable works.

For my variable name I am using RECENT and the value is C:\documents and settings\administrator\recent

I have rebooted my PC and this variable does not work. Error message says windows cant find file.

Also I went to the command prompt and typed echo %RECENT% and it displayed the correct variable contents

I am typing the variable name in the Run dialog box which should work because if you type temp it opens the temp folder.

What am I doing wrong?

P.S. I am setting the variable by right-clicking My Computer, properties, advanced, Enviroment variables
