Windows Media Player skips

Postby corina » Sat 12 Jul, 2003 1:29 am

The latest Windows Media Player, used on my Windows 98, chronically skips forward. I have checked my DSL speed, but this does not help. Can it be that the player is not meant to be used on 98, but only on more updated versions of Windows?

If you are referring to version 9 of Windows Media Player, I had problems with it {under Windows 98}, and uninstalled it back to version 6. It was too much of a drain on the system.

Thanks for your input. How do I do that - uninstall Media Player 9 in a way that will restore 6? I'm afraid that if I just uninstall 9 I will be left with nothing.

You can always save the file and then play it from the hard drive. This should eliminate most glitches, but does not solve the basic on-line problem (if that it what you are reporting).

My problem is the skipping factor during streaming audio and video. I can't save those files.
