Windows Media Services Plug-ins for Firefox

Postby zhamilton05 » Wed 15 Jun, 2005 10:07 pm

I can't get Windows Media Player to recognize the licenses I'm trying to download. It tells me I don't have the right plug-ins. Can someone e-mail me and tell me where I can download them? Thanks!

Are you able to get the license through Windows Media Player? And you might need the latest Windows Media Player installed.

Welcome to the Forum zhamilton05!

Plugins you need:

Right-click this link and save:
This is Adam Lock's ActiveX Plugin for Firefox1.0.4

Note, that this is ONLY for Windows Media Player and isn't related
in any way to MS ActiveX.

Open Firefox, then drag the .xpi file you just downloaded into the Firefox window. While installing, the plugin will appear in the Extensions window. Then it will vanish - this is because even though it installs the same way, this is not an extension, but a plugin. When the installation is complete, restart Firefox.

IMPORTANT:
If you use the Adblock extension, you need to disable the Obj-Tabs setting. Otherwise, the ActiveX plugin will run almost any ActiveX control regardless of how it is configured.

You should also have these plugins:

npdsplay.dll
npdrmv2.dll
npwmsdrm.dll

Type about:plugins into the Location Bar to view the browser's plugin information.

If not installed, then install the Netscape plugin found here:
Windows Media Player Plugin

In addition, check to see that you do have this Registry Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\FIREFOX.EXE]
If not, then copy the below information to Notepad, then name the file:
You can name it anything you wish, as long as you use the reg extension, reg for Registry Key, e.g., FFSIL.reg.

Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\MOZILLA.EXE]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ShimInclusionList\FIREFOX.EXE]

If Firefox wasn't included in the ShimInclusionList, then double click the *.reg file, and it will place the above keys in the ShimInclusionList.

And also, I am using Google: Chrome, instead of Fire-Fox.
So, can anyone here help me find the right plug-ins for my browser and such, please?

Thank you all for you time. ^-^

. Sorry, it is too cold, here :) I could not help it.
By the way, there is a Chrome/Safari newsgroup. This is for Mozilla stuff.
I am not sure about Chrome, but take a look at this
