Windows XP support Netscape 4.x?

Does anybody know if Windows XP support Netscape 4.x? I am having an issue with on of my web apps that uses Java Swing classes - I am using Netscape 4.8 and I am not able load the JApplet; I was thinking that possibly it could be that XP does not support Netscape 4.x

Do you have the JRE 1.4x installed?

Make sure you enabled Java runtime engine in both browser and from the control panel.

I removed my old Java (2 of them) in Add/Remove
Then I installed the new one.
1.4.JRE
It was on the Sun Microsystems page

Anyway, it still doesn't work.
It works in the other browser...You know what I mean!!!
I have spent so many hours trying to get it to work and it doesn't, now I have an icon on my desktop, called, Java Web Start and I wonder what it is for?

There is nothing on the Communicator 4.8 Release Notes page which indicates Windows XP. Windows 2000 is mentioned, however.
