Workstation Manager is an MMC console that aids in administration of a workstation PC. Its main function is to provide a Computer Management-like administration interface, without the extra bells and whistles to it.
Workstation Manager includes support for Component Services (i.e. COM+, DCOM, DTC, etc...), local disk management, an interface to Event Viewer and Performance Logs/Alerts, user and group administration, a WMI configuration control, and a list of system services that you can enable, disable, start, stop, and restart.

This console requires Microsoft Management Console 2.0, included in Windows 2000 and higher. It will not work with Management Console 1.0 provided in the Windows NT 4 Option Pack. Currently, this has not been tested on Management Console 3.0 in Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or R2, but nevertheless should work.
You need Administrator privelages on the target computer to run this console. If for some reason your computer lacks one of the required snap-ins, the console will still work with the features that are installed.
You can download Workstation Manager here. You can run it directly from the ZIP file, or extract it so that you can use it without needing to download it again. Alternatively, you can extract it to your Administrative Tools folder (accessible via [tt]%USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools[/tt]) so that you can launch it from the same place as Windows' MMC consoles.
