Xbox 2 to use G5 processor?

Postby izanbardprince » Tue 04 Jan, 2005 7:41 am

I heard a rumor about this, can anyone verify?

That would make a nice gaming system.

I also remember hearing that Apple want to port Mac OS X to PC hardware eventually, and then use a "trustworthy computing" type proprietary BIOS so that you couldn't use Mac OS on a non Apple PC.

Maybe if Motorola lost Apple then Microsoft could get a better bulk buying deal on the G5's?

The current prototypes do, but the end product will use some different PPC processor from IBM.

There are rumours that Apple had developed a "top secret" x86 compatible version of Mac OS X
at some point. Whether it's still in development, assuming it even exists, remains to be seen.
