So now I drive a lot? I've had the same tank of gas in my car since August...

My first response was... wow, your BMW's petrol tank is like Jesus' jar of wine, which never empties.

(Okay, I was told that my memory of the Loaves and Fishes story was a bit faulty, but anyway you have to excuse my broken English, and I am not white.)

Well, unlike Don's beautiful Boston and picturesque Quincy, free Wi-Fi is hardly available in Australia. If you want internet access somewhere outside, the easiest way is BYO to avoid expensive hotel internet charges.

I know I bought Telstra Prepaid Wireless Broadband (USB stick) back in January 2009, it is about time for upgrade.

Key features: Faster than previous Telstra Wireless Broadband, and does not require USB connection, also can connect up to 3 devices at a time.

Still sounds expensive. Is it?

Well, internet in Australia is still pretty expensive (compared to the advanced United States of America). Can't do much about that. Americans are very lucky.

The device itself is pretty reasonable.

It's a nice device. :) Not that I would ever need one, my phone can do much the same thing, with either USB tethering or wireless hotspot functionality.

I know I could use iPhone's tethering feature. But this device is handy, and it allows me to use my previous SIM (from previous pre-paid) which has about $230 of credit ;-)

This does not mean that my next iPad would be a Wi-Fi only. A built-in 3G connection is still very handy.

Presenting my latest gadget, the new phone that was on sale yesterday and made the news - iPhone 4S.

Note, this is not the top model. (Antony is poor)

Important message to Don: Antony is poor, and Antony did not rush to get the iPhone 4S on the first day of sale.

Well, this is an overdue post.

A mobile phone, in fact, an Android phone.

As a matter of fact, we won this phone (read: free). After taking the photo, this phone is back into the box, haven't used it yet. I don't think I would like it, but it's good to have a backup phone.

to Don: Antony is poor.

Yeah... but wait till you see what Don has to offer. I'll bet he rescued his from a dumpster and it's held together with duct tape and binder twine! :D

*crawls out of woodwork to post*

I have an unlocked Vodafone Pocket Wifi 2 (eugh, Vodafone, staying on 3 til the very end!) which supports 3G 850 for Telstra NextG, so what I've done is 'beat the system' and use a Telstra prepaid iPad SIM in the device. At the $20 level, I'm getting 1GB of data and 30 day expiry vs 225MB and, what, 21 day expiry on normal prepaid MBB. $30 gets me 3GB

It's not meant to be done, and if their systems catch you, you just get reverted to normal MBB pricing. I've seem to have beaten this though, by dropping the iPad SIM into my iPhone to recharge, and I've been doing it for a few months now, still getting the decent iPad rates.

Of course it would be easier to go Optus, but getting charged in 10MB blocks for the first 30MB/ day on prepaid is stupid, Vodafone is out of the picture cause it just doesn't work and 3 and its network will be gone in the next few months. Can't win :p

Their Mobile broadband rates keep going up.. and up.. and up. So considering if you have decent Optus service, you can get truly unlimited 3G data for $3 a day, I would say that we're getting better at the pricing thing

For my iPad's 3G with Telstra, I recharge $150 for 12GB which expires in 365 days. It suits me, and works out cheaper than the $20 1GB 30 days plan.

To me, coverage is very important. Many parts of Australia is still only covered by Telstra. I did not have good reception with Optus in the past.

Hey Guys, long time no see! Haha.

I recently went on contract with Sprint PCS for my mobile phone, before that I had AT&T.

I had a BlackBerry Curve 8530 with Sprint, but it had major issues so I returned it. I now have a brand new Motorola XPRT. As pictured below:
Image

It's an Android smart phone, currently running 2.2.2 (Froyo) with an expected update to 2.3 gingerbread.
It's specs are as follows.

1Ghz Single Core CPU
2GB ROM
5MP camera with auto focus and dual led flash
Portrait Qwert keyboard, with on screen landscape keyboard.
3.1" TFT capactive touch screen.

It's also a world phone, so when outside the US it has a SIM card and will roam on GSM networks.

It's the Sprint equivalent of the Motorola DROID Pro from Verizon.

Thank you. It's nice and I like it a lot. I'm really hoping it gets an update for ICS.

On a side note, I do miss my old BlackBerry.
