I phoned Telstra this morning and my 'BigPond Ultimate Cable Self Migration Home Network Gateway' is on the way.

Does it mean that they will post the modem to you? (As in you don't have to wait for the technician?

And after registering your interests, did Telstra contact you at all?

Okay, I am really curious.

There is no technician needed, hence the name 'self install kit'. I imagine that Telstra would have called me, but I didn't want to wait so I called them at 8am today and placed the order. Hopefully it arrives before the weekend. :-)

Thanks for the links PaulD. My current plan has 500GB of usage each month. If I exceed that then our service is simply slowed to 256Kbps. On the old 200GB plan I hit the wall a few times and was slowed down, but the 500GB plan is great. I've never come close to using all that up yet.

You reached your 200GB monthly quota?

I've never reached my previous 100GB quota.

Yes, that's Comcast's supposed "high-speed" internet.

I would. :) If you call 1800 209 041 during QLD business hours you'll get straight through to the Gold Coast call centre with an Aussie on the other end of the line.

Thanks.

Do you get into the Ultimate plan (internet only) or Home bundle (with phone)?

I have the 500GB Ultimate plan with the HomeLine Budget. That works out to be the cheapest option for me, since the home phone doesn't get much use.

They've updated the page ( https://www.telstra.com.au/eoi/cable100/ ).

Called Telstra. They will send me the modem (during this slow delivery Christmas period).

I will be paying the same monthly fee as my current 500GB Bundle. But a modem fee of $149.

Hope I can get it soon.

Very nice! You'll be very happy with Ultimate cable service. You just need to remember that you'll need to put the Cisco/Netgear unit they send you into bridged mode. There's no 'single port modem' for Ultimate Cable, unfortunately.
