Dishnetwork Gave Me a Free HD ReceiverFree Dish Network HDTV Offer >> I recently signed up for the Dishnetwork HDTV special where you get six months of HDTV programming for free, and I really can't say enough about it. I knew that Dishnetwork was a good deal, but HDTV didn't really hold much interest for me? Who cares, right? It's supposedly some enhanced picture and the extra money for possibly getting a brighter picture didn't sound like a smart investment. But when I heard that Dishnetwork was offering free six months worth of HDTV service, I figured I had nothing to lose. That's almost $120 worth of free service and if I hated it, I could always cancel and change my package. I found out right away why High Definition is getting such rave reviews. It really is a crisper, more vivid picture. It feels like the movie is happening right in your living room. Now that I've had HDTV for a couple of months, standard definition TV looks flat and out of date, like photographs from the 70s, you know? It just doesn't look modern anymore, if you know what I mean. The Dish network receiver is compatible with both High Definition TVs and Standard Definition TVs, so if you need to hook up your receiver to a television set that isn't a high definition set, then your receiver will still work. This worked well for me because I sometimes take the receiver to the TV in my study while I'm working and the TV in there is older than my daughter. No HDTV, but I still get all my Dishnetwork programming. It even features an off-air tuner, which lets you tune in on local, digital and high definition broadcasts. And the big selling point for me: the receiver is free. I always sort of looked at HDTV as yet another way for these techie people in the electronics industry to get a big chunk of my money – only to come out with something 'better' next year. Remember laser discs? But an HDTV, like the HDTV Dishnetwork package, doesn't need to be expensive. The HDTV receiver adapts to 480p, 720p, or 1080p resolutions, so any style of High Definition television, high end or not, will work with the Dishnetwork HDTV system. You can also connect the receiver to your other components like your stereo or DVD player or VCR. It fits into your home theater. And if you want to plan your TV schedule ahead of time, you can use the electronic program guide that gives you the programming for up to two days in advance. I like this feature for my daughter. It lets her see that she won't have to miss her movie– as long as she gets her homework done by the next time it comes on! If you've been holding out, definitely give HDTV and Dish Network's HDTV Package a try. With 6 months free and a free receiver, you've got nothing to lose!
