Netscape 7.0 Preview Release 1 Report Netscape 7.0 (final) Streamline available now. We recommend getting the newer versions. (if you want to download Netscape 7.0 PR1 Stripped-down package, please read and download from bottom of this page.) All right, here is my Netscape 7.0 PR1 report General: * The dialogue windows do not have short cut keys. (Such as the under lines in Yes, No, so you can use keyboards instead of mouse to click it. * Problem with RealPlayer. Browser: * feels better, not sure if faster. * the website icon (favourite icon) is quite cool, might make one for Silly Dog 701. * Open links in New Tab? Why? still don't see the usefulness in "New Tab" compared to "New window". * Comes with Java2 ver1.4.0_01I * Comes with Flash 6. * Print Preview, finally the must have function, but not entirely true; also shrink to fit page width feature (does not work very well yet). * Page setup is in inches, can't be changed to metric. * Save page feature is now improved, just like IE's, you can save complete webpage (with gif/js/css not just HTML) * Full Screen Mode (F11) is interesting. (Now I know the benefit of Tab, it works under Full Screen Mode.) * Keywords for bookmarks (can be used for locationbar), cool. See here for more detail about keywords. Mail: * Improved Mail notification (but no sound). * Mail labelling function, you can set importance by difference colour. * Security support, yoo-hoo! (I've been waiting for years) * Imporved: Mail can now show all header. * Improved Address Book. * the handling of Netscape WebMail does not seem to be improved. * The Netscape 7.0 PR1 Mail does not seem to automatically check for new e-mails, unless I keep the Mail window open. It won't check when the the Mail window is closed. * Still not very smoothly integrated with Netscape WebMail. * Problem: they moved the Message Filter out of Edit Menu to Advanced Features under your root mail. * Problem: Clicking a link in email does not work with "Open Link in New Window" (context click); it works with just click it. * Problem: I can't get any mail notification sound. Download Netscape 7.0 PR1 Stripped-down package Netscape 7.0 Preview Release 1 Stripped-down package (12.5MB) is available here. (Official Netscape 7.0 PR1 from Netscape Communication Corp. is 30.1MB in file size.) There will be no Navigator stand-alone pack, only one Stripped-down version, Mail/News components can be unselected. Also, there are no Silly Dog identifier stings. This is not a CCK package. (It is therefore possible to install this stripped-down package as Navigator 7.0 PR1 stand-alone.) This stripped-down package is create for your convinence. This package is created by demand.
